Annual Conference

NACo's Annual Conference is the Association's largest of the year. Held during the summer, the Conference is the place for elected and appointed county officials to network, attend educational sessions and meet with companies that sell products to counties. It draws some 4,000 officials annually and is held in a different county each year. As county governments are called upon to perform more and more services, this conference offers county officials and employees their best opportunity to discover new ways to address the needs of their constituents. At the 2010 annual conference, Sonoma County, CA made a presentation on its project entitled “Upstream Investments”. It emphasizes prevention-focused intervention and policies for children, families, individuals, and the community to increase equality and promote opportunities that reduce future monetary and societal costs. Senior officials from the US Food and Nutrition Service spoke to NACHSA members about SNAP outreach at the 2010 annual conference. They made available two presentations: general outreach and their efforts to reach out to seniors.

NACHSA members also considered a number of federal policy resolutions, including policies on TANF, child support, child care, health reform and the Elder Justice Act. Those resolutions and others were ultimately adopted by the NACo membership. Click here to view those policies.
